Going Greeny

From October 12, 2015

This past week was AWESOME. Except its a completely different mission, i have had to start over completely! very challenging but very exciting. Feel like a lost greeny again.

Turns out i was misinformed. I am not working in LA, but I do live there. We are in a really nice apartment complex and 4 of us live there. Elder Vargas, Elder Spence (jamaican), and Elder Valenzuela (we started out together in bani, so we are having lots of good laughs). ...oh and did i mention there is HOT WATER?!?! its very modernized haha.

My area is called Los Girasoles. Its a WARD. An extremely functional ward. I was a little nervous yesterday when more than 50 people showed up to sacrament mtg hahaha. Even more shocked to find out that the Bishop has TWO ACTIVE COUNSELORS. (first time in a year for me). And there are members all over our area, which means free water and juice. unbelievable.

The work here is fantastic. There was a baptism this saturday (sorry no pics..we all forgot our cameras). This week has been extremely spiritual. Tought several families who are very prepared. 5 individuals accepted baptismal dates for November. And they all visited church yesterday. They truly desire to convert to the Lord.

Elder Vargas is a really great companion and missionary. He loves the people so much. He has ben in this area for 3 months and goes home in 3 months. We expect that I will be his last companion. We will see what happens at transfers in 5 weeks. Hopefully he stays, we are having a great time. Working our tails off.

Thats the week.

Love,
Elder Girgenti

New Area!

From October 5, 2015

I forgot to tell you!

Elder Poole finished his training. So ow after 6 months in Barahona I leave tomorrow to a new area. I am going to the San Geronimo zone. In an area called Los Angeles (if anoyone asks, I am in LA hah). It will be my first time to serve in the capital!! My companion will be Elder Vargas, from Argentina. We lived together for my first transfer in Barahona! I am stoked to work with him there!

These pictures are from the past few weeks!

From October 5, 2015

This week was awesome!! PACKED to the brim with great events and miracles, and i will share a few.

1. This past Thursday I had to go the the capital for some meetings. To my surprise Elder Schoenfeld was there too! And lots of other missionaries with whom I have lived/served! We had lots of great laughs! He goes home this Wednesday in the morning, he made it hahaha. we had a lot of fun talking about Santana

2. On Saturday at 6 pm (between GC sessions), Angela Maria Perez Sanchez and Maritza Alcantara were baptized into Barahona first branch! The service was VERY spiritual. They and their families were crying almost the whole time. There was something about it that really struck me:

The whole day the font was having issues filling. The water pump just wasnt working. the members worked really hard to to and get water in it. But about an hour about the baptism (5:00) it had a foot deep of water. NOT enough. However we went forward with faith. We prayed and expected the Lord in His own way to make it full by 6:15. We prepared everything as if it were going to work out perfectly. And about 25 minutes before the baptisms were to take place the water started gushing in and there was just enough for the women to be baptized. A miracle.

3. General Conference. The branch members set up a projector in the chapel and eveyone just hangs out there all day and watches. Pretty cool. The talks were awesome. but it all only matters if we change. I invite all of you to think about something that resonated in your minds and make CHAGES in your lives to become more Christlike.

That was the week. I love you
